Bayern Munich and Allianz extend partnership until 2033, securing significant revenue boost
Bayern Munich have announced a ten-year contract extension with its primary sponsor, Allianz, securing a significant boost in revenue for the club.
The partnership, which has been in place since 2000, includes Allianz’s naming rights sponsorship of the Allianz Arena and the shirt sponsorship of the women’s team. The news was confirmed on the Bayern website.
FC Bayern’s CEO Oliver Kahn expressed his satisfaction with the partnership extension, and stated, “FC Bayern places great value on reliable, continual partnerships. We’re therefore very happy to continue our cooperation with Allianz. We can look back on a joint success story of over 20 years, to which we want to add more chapters with new and innovative ideas.”
Bayern Munich’s board member for marketing and sponsorships, Andreas Jung, also expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership’s extension, and said, “Allianz is a Munich company that operates globally, and that people around the world associate with the FC Bayern stadium. In the future, we will press ahead with the expansion of the partnership with our women’s team and implement projects in youth development, among other things.”
Allianz SE’s head of global brand & marketing, Christian Deuringer, also welcomed the continuation of the partnership, and said, “FC Bayern and Allianz have enjoyed a successful and trustful partnership for over 20 years, which has grown from the naming of the Allianz Arena to the men’s, women’s, and youth teams and increasingly into the digital and social media spheres. Thanks to FC Bayern’s huge reach and inspiring content, we reach many millions of fans around the world.”
The deal is expected to earn Bayern Munich around €13million/year from the 2023/24 season, up from the current €8million, bringing a total of €130million over the next decade, according to Sky Sport.
The boost in income will undoubtedly be welcomed by Bayern, as it will help to secure the club’s financial future and enable them to invest in new and innovative ideas to further improve the partnership between the club and Allianz.
