Barcelona will demand €100 million for Ousmane Dembele

January 5, 2023

La Liga heavyweights Barcelona will reportedly demand €100 million to part ways with Ousmane Dembele, a target for PSG.
According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Paris Saint-Germain will look to sign Ousmane Dembele in the summer transfer window. And Barcelona will demand around €100 million to part ways with the French international attacker.

Ousmane Dembele has arguably been an underachiever since joining Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund. One of the most expensive signings in the Catalan club’s history, the Frenchman endured a spate of few fitness issues in the first few years of his stint. But his form has improved under the tutelage of Xavi Hernandez.

The 25-year-old was a crucial member for France as Les Bleus reached the 2022 FIFA World Cup final. And Dembele has enjoyed an overall solid 2022/23 season, amassing six goals and seven assists in 22 appearances for Barcelona. But the player has entered the final year of his contract, with the situation alerting Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG might lose Kylian Mbappe in the summer transfer window, with the Frenchman reportedly eyeing a departure. The young attacker is somewhat unsettled at Parc des Princes and might call it quits at PSG. In addition, Neymar’s future with the Ligue 1 champions is not set in stone amid recent exit links.

So PSG will need to invest in at least one offensive reinforcement in the summer transfer window. And Dembele, who Les Parisiens have tailed for a long time, has emerged as a viable target again for the French giants. But the 25-year-old will cost a bomb, with Barcelona demanding €100 million for him.

Contrary to widespread suggestions, Dembele’s Barcelona contract does not contain a release clause worth €50 million. And Barcelona will not entertain any offers unless a suitor shells out €100 million. But the Blaugrana will look to secure the French international’s long-term future instead of losing to PSG or any other club.

Recent reports have claimed that Barcelona will soon advance discussions with the 25-year-old. And it will be interesting to see if the Catalan giants secure his future. It will also be intriguing if PSG will be open to shelling out €100 million to sign Dembele in the summer.
