Barcelona veteran refuses to take credit for team’s impressive form – ‘Large part of it is coincidence’

Since joining Barcelona following Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s injury, goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has made an instant impact, maintaining an excellent record with only one loss in all competitions.
Under Hansi Flick, the former Poland international has been preferred over Inaki Pena, and his performances have played a role in Barcelona’s strong form.
The only defeat came in the UEFA Champions League against Borussia Dortmund, a match that had no significant consequences as Barcelona had beaten the German side 4-0 in the first leg.
Not taking any credit
Szczesny, however, remains grounded and modest about his contributions to the team’s success. In a recent interview, he openly acknowledged that a lot of the team’s victories have come from sheer timing and good fortune.
“I think a large part of it was coincidence,” he admits, without any false humility. “My contribution to the fact that we have not lost has been quite minimal.”
