Barcelona trying to fasttrack the signing of 17-year-old winger wonderkid
Ibrahim Diarra is one player who has been under the radar of FC Barcelona for quite some time now.
The 17-year-old was one of the top performers in the FIFA U-17 World Cup and Barcelona have been keeping tabs on the youngster ever since.
In fact, Diarra has recently returned to his native Mali after finishing his trial at Barcelona. He currently plies his trade for Malian outfit Africa Foot.
Barcelona impressed by Diarra
During his trials at Barcelona, Diarra exceeded expectations with his performances. A winger by trade, he stood especially for his mobility and speed on the flanks, reports Diario SPORT.
Diarra is also a versatile attacker and given his age, he has identified as a qualified medium and long-term bet for FC Barcelona.
During the trials, Diarra generally altered between Barça Athletic and the youth team. It appears both the camps were left impressed by his quality and performances.
Barça aiming to fast-track Diarra acquisition
A major roadblock for Barcelona, however, is Diarra’s age. The club are not in a position to incorporate the services of the young forward, who is currently only 17.
Diarra does not turn 18 until December of this year, meaning Barcelona might not be eligible to move to Europe even in the coming summer.
Barcelona, however, are analysing potential alternatives. The report suggests the club and the player’s situation are exploring alternative methods of going through with the signing in the coming summer, despite the age issue.
Barcelona, for their part, are desperate to rope in Diarra in the coming summer and make him a part of the club’s dynamics for the season ahead.
