Barcelona top target is expected to make another huge step in his attempt to move to Camp Nou
As we approach August, Barcelona must soon make a decision, as far as their pursuit of Julian Alvarez is concerned.
The Argentine is the club’s number one option to replace Robert Lewandowski, but Atletico Madrid are not ready to sell the player to a direct rival.
Alvarez has tried his best by publicly asking for a transfer, but that has done little to unsettle Atleti and now, time is running out.
Alvarez to pull off one more move
Alvarez is preparing to make a second gesture in his bid to further unsettle Atletico Madrid and force a move to Barcelona this summer.
Alvarez’s first move came during the World Cup when he openly admitted his desire to leave the club. Now, a second move could put pressure on Atleti even more.
Alvarez feels betrayed by Atletico Madrid, as he believes the club had promised him an exit ticket in the event of a good offer. Barcelona have already tabled a €100 million bid for the Argentine.
The forward, therefore, is willing to do everything in his power to force through an exit from the Spanish capital. Barcelona, too, are awaiting his move.
The report adds that Alvarez’s second gesture could come at the end of this month or at the start of August, given he is slated to resume training under Diego Simeone on August 10.
What is Barcelona’s plan?
Time is clearly running out for Barcelona but it appears the Catalans have not given up.
They are waiting for Alvarez’s second move and see if that is enough to unsettle Atletico Madrid, even though the Spanish giants have been staunch about their €500 million release clause.
Other clubs are also keen on acquiring the services of Alvarez this summer, but fortunately for Barcelona, the player has his heart set on a move to Camp Nou.
Therefore, the Catalans are more than likely to wait for a few more weeks, before taking the next step, as far as their bid to sign a new forward is concerned.
