Barcelona teenage sensation has already signed with Adidas, announcement video recorded
Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, at just 16 years of age, has already drawn comparisons with some of the greats of the game. It indeed may be too early to sing songs of his talent, but there is a certain feeling that he might be La Masia’s most talented graduate since Lionel Messi.
Adidas’ interest in roping Lamine Yamal as one of their brand ambassadors, thus, caught the public eye as a deserved coincidence. After all, Messi was, and still is one of Adidas’ biggest ambassadors.
Closing in on Lamine
According to reports from SPORT, the 16-year-old winger is already linked with Adidas. Only the official announcement, a video for which was recorded in Barcelona earlier this week, remains to be made.
Yamal had a contract with Nike throughout his developmental years, but the relations between the player and the American company broke down in recent months. One of the possible causes, as well as consequences of the same, is Yamal’s signing for Adidas.
The youngster has been playing with white boots for a while now after his contract with Nike ended. However, his wait for a new sponsor will not be long, for Adidas are set to make him one of the leading faces of their brand.
At just 16, he is after all one of football’s fastest-growing names and talents and continues to leave his mark every time he takes to the field.
Soaking in minutes
Xavi and Barcelona have been very cautious of their use of Yamal all season. Given the injuries Pedri and Gavi have suffered after regular football at the top level, they hope to manage Yamal’s minutes judiciously until his body is ready for regular action.
The club’s long list of injuries, however, has thrown the teenager into the deep end. He has started, and completed 90 minutes in all four of Barcelona’s last league clashes and also played a staggering 105 minutes against Athletic Club in the Copa del Rey.
With Raphinha, Joao Felix and Ferran Torres injured, one cannot blame the manager for fielding Yamal. Yet, there is a feeling that the youngster needs rest, and quickly.
