Barcelona rate 26-year-old ‘complete’ Premier League winger very highly, contract expires in 2025
Even though the summer transfer window is still a long way away, speculations about Barcelona’s plans to strengthen the squad for the next season are already doing the rounds.
A new pivot midfielder appears to be at the top of the wishlist for Barça for next summer to provide cover and competition for Oriol Romeu.
Apart from that reports suggest that the La Liga champions are also looking for a couple of new full-backs.
A new left-sided winger also appears to be on the agenda, amid reports that Athletic Club’s Nico Williams could be arriving on a free transfer.
Barcelona like Kaoru Mitoma
Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have also taken a special liking to Brighton & Hove Albion winger Kaoru Mitoma.
The 26-year-old Japanese winger joined the Seagulls from Kawasaki Frontale in 2021 and spent a season away on loan at Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium before returning to England last year.
Mitoma enjoyed a spectacular 2022/23 season with Brighton, finishing with ten goals and eight assists in all competitions, and has already made seven goal contributions from 11 games in the current campaign.
Barcelona admire Mitoma because of his ability to break defences apart with his speed, ball control, as well as his eye for a goal.
