Laporta frustrated with the result

As it seems, Laporta was seemingly upset at the outcome. As he left the stadium and mingled with those watching the match from the VIP section, he was heard expressing his frustration: “This can’t be!”.

Interestingly, he was accompanied by Deco and Rafa Yuste, two key officials from the club.

Laporta’s reaction followed Barcelona’s failure to maintain their lead twice during the match, casting doubt on their participation in the next Spanish Super Cup.

What does a defeat mean for Barcelona?

Missing out on the Spanish Super Cup would mean a loss of potential revenue for the club, which is factored into the budget for the upcoming season.

The financial setback would complicate their ability to make necessary signings and adhere to the 1:1 ratio rule.

This defeat came shortly after Laporta had publicly endorsed Xavi’s continued leadership for another season.

In January, Xavi had indicated his intention to leave at the end of the current season, but Laporta persuaded him to stay on. Despite this show of confidence, the latest result has raised questions about the direction and stability of the team.
