Barcelona midfielder was in very low spirits after error in 0-4 loss to Real Madrid
Barcelona’s recent 4-0 defeat to Real Madrid has understandably not gone well with players and fans alike. But some of them are more upset about the loss than others, including Franck Kessie.
According to a report the former AC Milan star was in low spirits after the defeat. He feels he could have done much better to avoid conceding a penalty that allowed Real Madrid to extend their lead to three goals.
Up until that moment, Kessie was one of Barça’s best performers in the game. In the absence of Pedri and Frenkie de Jong, the Ivorian was doing rather well, controlling the engine room and providing the physique and aggression in the middle of the park.
But Kessie feels he should have avoided the mistake that cost his team dearly. While Barcelona were already losing the game 2-0, there was still hope of a comeback, given that the club had secured a slender 1-0 lead in the first leg.
That meant a goal would have been enough to take the game to extra time. But following the third goal, Barcelona had no hope of making a comeback.
However, Xavi, who spent hours analysing the game, has transmitted a positive reaction to Kessie, highlighting his performance since the turn of the year.
Kessie is now fully focused on ending the season well and helping Barcelona secure the league title. However, he may soon find some competition in midfield, with both de Jong and Pedri, tipped to make a return against Getafe later this month.
Nevertheless, the Ivorian is expected to remain in Barcelona and will not be leaving anytime soon.
