Barcelona may be forced to terminate contract of 22-year-old fullback – report
Warning bells begin to sound in the offices of FC Barcelona as they continue to struggle in their pursuit of offloading talents that are deemed to be of no importance to the club moving forward under Xavi Hernandez.
It was only recently that the interest of English Premier League outfit Aston Villa in Spanish forward Ferran Torres was reiterated in Spanish media. Yet, even in a case where the offer was materializing, the player himself continues to resist any temptations of leaving Barcelona whatsoever.
Now, it appears that a new transfer headache is there to be dealt with for the higher-ups at Barcelona involved in transfer operations to offload surplus players.
As per Spanish journalist Javi Miguel, there is a concern at FC Barcelona regarding potential suitors for out-of-favour fullback Sergino Dest, as the current progression could possibly lead to a termination of the contract as well.
According to the update provided, Barcelona believe that the player’s insufficient and inadequate performances as of late could possibly deter any potential suitors and as it stands, the club will be unable to offload the 22-year-old and recoup some of the amount they invested in his signing in 2020.
His loan spell at AC Milan last season was also considered to be a lacklustre stint given that the Barcelona loanee was unable to win over the Italian giants and spent most of the duration of his loan as an unused and unimportant substitute.
Now, as August comes around signaling the final month of the summer transfer window, Barcelona will be eager to discuss a potential transfer away from the Catalan club for the American fullback, something that if no other club decides to opt for, La Blaugrana may have to terminate his contract entirely.
