Barcelona hit by Robert Lewandowski injury scare ahead of Dortmund return in Champions League

April 15, 2025

Barcelona have been hit by an injury scare to Robert Lewandowski ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League quarter-final second leg against Borussia Dortmund.

Hansi Flick and his team trained in Germany on Monday evening and Lewandowski was spotted touching the back of his thigh and then talking to the coaching staff.

The suggestion is that Lewandowski felt something, meaning the club may not risk him in a match where they will start 4-0 up from the first leg.

Flick has already been tipped to start Ferran Torres ahead of Lewandowski for the tie and certainly won’t want to take any risks with his top scorer.

The Barca boss had been full of praise for Lewandowski before training when he addressed reporters at his pre-match press conference.

“It’s noticeable to have a player of his caliber on the team,” he said. “He’s very professional and has a lot of experience. We count on him a lot, and every day he shows what he’s capable of and has all the qualities that make him a good player. He’s a great example for the rest of us.”

We’ll have to wait and see what happens next but it may be that Lewandowski does not start Tuesday’s match against his former team.
