Barcelona considering an out-of-the-box solution for contract registration of three players

June 14, 2023

One of the major aims of FC Barcelona in the upcoming summer transfer window is to get several players’ contracts renewed and registered. The club has faced problems in this regard, as La Liga has stuck to its Financial Fair Play demands.

According to SPORT, in order to complete these contract renewals and registrations, the club can repeat an innovative but already-tried strategy that it used to get Jules Kounde registered last summer.

Using this strategy, FC Barcelona and Ferran Olive came to an agreement for endorsing €11 million out of pocket to ensure that the defender is registered with La Liga. Kounde had to spend only the first two days as a Barcelona player unable to play because of his lack of registration with the league.

The report claims that the club is now studying the possibility of repeating the same operation with several of their other players this summer. These players would include Alejandro Balde, Marcos Alonso, and Sergi Roberto, while the contracts for Ronald Araujo and Gavi will be registered in the traditional way.

Alejandro Balde was one of the mainstays in Barcelona’s backline last season, and contributed significantly both to the attack and defence. Similarly, while mostly fringe players, Marcos Alonso, and Sergi Roberto also provided the needed depth to the squad when required and helped rest more established players in the squad at times when the fixture list was highly congested.

Thus, the club can repeat the strategy it used to register Jules Kounde last summer to get some other players registered in the coming summer transfer window. This can be a way out for FC Barcelona in their quest to renew some of their high-quality players, despite the problems being caused by La Liga.
