Barcelona boss Hansi Flick facing two-match touchline ban for Betis red

December 8, 2024

A sanction is coming

Hansi Flick is expected to be handed a two-match touchline ban after being sent off for Barcelona against Real Betis on Saturday.

The German coach was shown a straight red card and insisted after the game he was baffled by the decision as he “didn’t say anything” to the refeee.

However, the referee’s report claimed Flick was handed his marching orders for: “leaving the technical area shouting and gesticulating, protesting one of my decisions.”

The offence carries a suspension of “two to three matches” according to article 127 of the Disciplinary Code which means Flick may not be on the bench again this year for Barcelona in La Liga.

The Catalan giants play two more league matches in 2024, against Leganes on December 15 and then against Atletico Madrid on December 21st.

Yet it looks as though Flick will have to watch both of those matches from the stands.
