AZ Alkmaar director claims they are ‘not negotiating’ with Milan over Reijnders

July 10, 2023

The technical director of AZ Alkmaar, Max Huiberts, has confirmed that AC Milan saw a first offer for Tijjani Reijnders rejected but suggested another bid could come in.

The latest update we had in the Reijnders-Milan saga came from Niccolo Ceccarini in his piece for TMW, in which he claimed the Rossoneri management are working on bridging the gap and the feeling is that an agreement can be reached.

A four-year contract is already in place for the player, who is pushing for the move to happen. That works in Milan’s favour, but AZ Alkmaar seem to be under no pressure to sell at least based on what has been said publicly.

Huiberts spoke to Noordhollands Dagblad to give an update on Reijnders amid the reports in the Italian media that things are moving closer to completion.

“But at the moment we are not negotiating. They made an offer, which we rejected. We communicated to Milan that we agreed with Tijjani that we prefer him to play with us for another year. And that we want to respect that agreement,” he said.

“If they make a new offer, we can still negotiate. But ‘as we speak’ there is no such thing.”
