Axel Disasi to Chelsea transfer latest: Medical booked, £38m fee agreed, Arsenal interest
Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Axel Disasi after agreeing a £38million fee to sign the AS Monaco defender. Disasi has been on the Blues’ radar for a long time now, football.london understands.
The Frenchman is expected to complete a medical this week and join up with Mauricio Pochettino’s squad in the coming days. The 25-year-old is set to move to the Blues on a long-term deal with the club looking to bolster their centre-back options following the news that Wesley Fofana will be ruled out for a long time after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.
The French defender played 49 times for the Ligue 1 club in all competitions last season and caught the eyes of Chelsea scouts in the process. So, with that being said, football.london has taken a look at the latest news as Disasi edges closer to securing a move to Stamford Bridge…
According to Fabrizio Romano, Disasi is set to undergo medical tests in London on Tuesday, August 1. Chelsea and Monaco have already exchanged documents and contracts, with the deal almost sealed.
£38m fee agreed
Chelsea have agreed a £38million fee with AS Monaco to sign French defender Axel Disasi. The move comes after Fofana is expected to miss the majority of the 2023/24 campaign following a recent ACL injury.
The Blues signed Benoit Badiashile from Monaco in January and have now returned to sign his former team-mate to provide cover in defence for Pochettino’s side.
