Diego Simeone’s men cemented a 4-2 win in the 119th minute after Rodrigo Riquelme scored on a counter attack to beat Lunin, which means defending champions Real Madrid have been eliminated from the tournament.

Atletico Madrid, who last won the Copa del Rey in 2013, progressed to the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile on Thursday, Barcelona beat lower division club Unionistas de Salamanca 3-1 to join the last eight.

Athletic Bilbao, Celta Vigo, Girona, Mallorca, Real Sociedad and Sevilla were the other quarterfinalists.
