Arsenal should beat Man United to £13m transfer bargain as Mikel Arteta has to play waiting game
Latest Arsenal transfer news and updates as football.london provides a look at the latest rumours.
We are now almost halfway through the January transfer window with talks of who could be coming and going heating up.
It has so far proven to be a quiet transfer window for most teams, maybe the Premier League’s action on Profit and Sustainability rules have had an impact. Maybe it is just a slow burner. Mikel Arteta is keen to add to his Arsenal squad before the end of the month, a new defender, striker and midfielder are on the head coach’s wishlist for a perfect window. But there have been no real developments on any potential incomings so far.
Arteta himself has spoken about the challenge that the January transfer window brings, especially with one eye on the Premier League’s financial rules. Arsenal are understood to be on the lookout for loan deals in order to cover for losses of players due to absence and injuries.
While the January window has so far been quiet, that’s still not stopped talk around potential business at the Emirates Stadium. With that in mind, we’ve taken a look at a couple of the latest stories and shared our own thoughts;
Firstly, journalist Ben Jacobs has told GiveMeSport that Everton midfielder Amadou Onana is ‘open’ to making a switch to the Emirates Stadium, but Everton’s price demands could be a stumbling block to any deal. It is said that Everton would ‘expect’ £50m or more for the player if they are to sell in the January transfer window and that sort of price is going to make a deal impossible this month.
There was a suggestion that Everton’s financial situation could lead to a cut-price deal, but it is now reported that the Toffees are determined to keep hold of one of their key players as they fight against relegation.
