Arsenal receive fresh Kai Havertz injury update as Germany star to leave camp

Kai Havertz will return to Arsenal after picking up a suspected hamstring injury while on international duty for Germany, having been subbed off during their 1-1 draw with the Netherlands

Arsenal star Kai Havertz will leave the Germany camp to have a scan on his hamstring after suffering an injury against the Netherlands. Havertz, 27, came off midway through the first half of Thursday’s 1-1 draw in Amsterdam.

The forward had been on the end of a high challenge from Crystal Palace midfielder Quinten Timber, the brother of Arsenal defender Jurrien. Germany manager Jurgen Klopp admitted post-match that both Havertz and team-mate Jamal Musiala, who pulled out of the starting XI in the warm-up, would likely miss the remainder of the international break.

The Athletic now report that Havertz will leave his international team-mates and return to Arsenal’s facilities for treatment. But there’s optimism in North London that the suspected injury isn’t serious.

Havertz started Arsenal’s first five games of the Premier League season and has scored three goals in seven across all competitions. Mikel Arteta will hope that he’s available for their clash with Leeds on Saturday, October 10.
