Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has only featured three times so far this season and could now be absent until February 2024

November 10, 2023

Arsenal star Thomas Partey is expected to be sidelined for the remainder of 2023 after undergoing a “procedure”,. The Ghana international has missed the last five fixtures across all competitions.

Partey returned to action in the 1-0 win against Manchester City ahead of the October international break – coming on as a substitute for 15 minutes. However, he has failed to feature for Arsenal since and may not be available until February 2024 due to AFCON getting underway in January.

Partey now joins the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Jurrien Timber, Emile Smith Rowe and Co. in the treatment room. So with all of that being said, has rounded up everything we know about Partey’s current fitness status below.

Arsenal timeline after procedure complete

Arsenal star Thomas Partey has undergone a “procedure” after missing the last few weeks with an injury.

The midfielder has been plagued by injuries over the last few years with two separate issues already keeping him out for over six weeks since the 2023/24 season began. This latest setback will see him miss the remainder of the year with participation for Ghana in AFCON next year possibly meaning he will not play a prominent role again until February 2024.

Signing a new midfielder in the winter window is therefore appearing a priority with Mohamed Elneny also likely to participate in the tournament that Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi is a player the Gunners have been tracking.

Arteta’s latest comments

Arsenal manager Arteta has delivered an update on Partey’s current injury status ahead of Wednesday evening’s clash against West Ham. “I think that he will be out for weeks, I don’t know how long but he’s got another appointment today and we will see more after that,” Arteta said in his pre-match press conference ahead of the game against the Hammers.

“Yes he is a big concern because when Thomas is fit and available and he’s been part of the team we have seen what the results and the impact that he has on the team.”
