Andoni Iraola tells Spanish media fundamentals of Bournemouth success

Andoni Iraola has insisted that Bournemouth’s scouting department is key to their recent success.

The Cherries are currently enjoying their best ever start to a season with 14 points from 21. That’s got them in the Champions League spots at present.

It’s been a surprise to many after a damaging summer in which they lost three of their back four. They were also forced to changed goalkeepers.

Instead, they’ve simply kept on moving, with new signings integrating neatly into the exciting system that Iraola has now embedded at the club.

Iraola believes that is due to the strength of their scouting department, highlighting the previous stars as examples.

“Huijsen, Zabarnyi, Kerkez… arrived at 18-19 years, very young ages,” he said.

“They are important bets of the club. That in 1-2-3 seasons have evolved that way and go out to the teams that have gone well speaks of the ‘scouting’ department.

“We are confident that we can continue to do it. Although it is very difficult because there are many clubs trying to do the same.”
