Alan Shearer makes interesting comment about Chelsea’s Cole Palmer after 2-1 win over Newcastle
After their victory against Newcastle United, Chelsea are currently in fifth place after nine games have been played – a strong start for Enzo Maresca.
The new Chelsea boss has done a remarkable job of calming the noise around Stamford Bridge, with many unsatisfied with the way in which the club have approached the transfer market of late.
It wasn’t a popular decision to part ways with Conor Gallagher for example, but winning football matches is an excellent way to get fans back on side.
Maresca’s Chelsea are gaining some momentum right now in their bid for a Champions League spot next season, and a lot of credit also has to Cole Palmer.
Cole Palmer celebrated for ‘sublime’ pass before Pedro Neto’s opening goal
Like Maresca, Palmer made his way to Chelsea after learning his trade at Manchester City.
In that respect, City’s loss has certainly been Chelsea’s gain, and Palmer was instrumental in dispatching Newcastle on Sunday.
And as impressive as his brilliant near-post goal was, Palmer mostly caught the eye for his pre-assist for Chelsea’s opener, which was scored by Nicolas Jackson.
