Bayern Munich might be ready to pounce on star Serie A player

January 30, 2026

FC Bayern has its sights set on one of Atalanta’s biggest talents.

Nobody? Well, that is totally understandable. Bayern Munich’s club executives have assured us time and again that the squad is well equipped and that there is no need for further additions. Which is probably not true for this season given the injury list, but might become a travesty in the summer if Dayot Upamecano does not extend with the club.

And right now, it doesn’t look all that promising, with his agent intent on playing a long-drawn game of “Deal or no deal?”.

According to a recent report from Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) of Sky Germany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia_GER), Bayern might be seriously considering other options. And it is sniffing around Atalanta’s top-rated talent, who has already become a fixture in the first team at the insanely young age of 17. Yes, a 17-year-old starter at center-back playing for a top club in the most defensively oriented league in football. Honest Ahanor, welcome to Bayern?

There is no doubt that he will be pricey, but Bayern loves spending big on defenders anyway. The phenom, who finds himself on the shopping list just behind Rennes’ Jérémy Jacquet, would be a statement signing and could be a superb long-term solution for Bayern’s defense. Ahanor’s versatility allows him to play as a wingback and a central defensive midfielder, which is also something to consider. Overall, his skillset, speed, and strength make this an extremely appealing transfer. Honestly, what is there not to like?

Just the tiny possibility that, like the other center-back signings of late, this too might not pan out. However, given the immense potential and the insane ceiling, signing the young Nigerian might just be the right choice.
