I saw ‘brilliant’ Nottingham Forest player prove the Europa League is too easy for him in 3-0 win over Malmo

November 28, 2025

Nottingham Forest had no issues with getting beyond Malmo in the Europa League to remain in the mix for a last-16 spot.

Sean Dyche made a number of changes to his team, but from the moment Ryan Yates scored in the first half, the writing was on the wall for the Swedish outfit.

Arnaud Kalimuendo and Nikola Milenkovic added further goals during the game, and the 3-0 victory was actually more respectable than it should have been for Malmö.

Given that the opposition were just so poor, it’s hard to make too many snap judgments, but one player has highlighted that his future doesn’t belong in the Europa League.

Murillo finds the Europa League too easy
One player who started the game, perhaps surprisingly, was Murillo. The central defender lined up as a left-back, and that in itself was a little bit of a shock.

Murillo is destined for greatness, and it’s still quite remarkable that Forest only paid £10.6 million to sign him from Corinthians in the summer of 2023

Murillo has been described as ‘brilliant’ in the past, and it would seem as though the amount of superlatives in existence aren’t enough to sum up the performance levels of Murillo.

The fact that Murillo operated at left-back and still looked comfortable is a testament to his quality as a footballer, and Forest look set to earn a fortune when the time does come to cash in on him.
