Fabio Silva waived €6m to join Borussia Dortmund in the summer – rejecting advances from AS Roma
Reports that Borussia Dortmund striker Fabio Silva took a pay cut to join the club in the summer.
Silva moved to Germany in the summer from Premier League side Wolves for €22m. However, AS Roma also made an attempt to sign him, where he would have earned 30% more money.
At the Westfalenstadion, the 23-year-old earns a base salary of €4m, which can increase with bonuses, while in Italy, his salary would be €5m. Over the course of a five-year deal, this is a €6m loss.
In the opening stages of his Dortmund career, Silva has proved to be a lively option off the bench, especially with Serhou Guirassy struggling to find form as he deals with an injury. Against Copenhagen last week, Silva scored his first goal for the club, then at the weekend he assisted Maximilian Beier’s winner against 1.FC Köln.
