“Advanced talks” – Liverpool close to completing signing of much needed replacement

Liverpool are reportedly in advanced negotiations to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s highly-rated right-back, Jeremie Frimpong, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg.
The Merseyside club haves made significant progress in talks with Leverkusen, with Frimpong emerging as a priority target to reinforce the right flank.
With Trent Alexander-Arnold on his way out of the club this summer, the Reds are moving fast to sign his replacement in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool identify their potential new right-back
Alexander-Arnold has recently announced his decision to leave his boyhood club and it is clear that his future lies at Real Madrid who are desperate to complete his signing in time for the Club World Cup this summer.
Arne Slot and his management team are working hard to complete the signing of Frimpong from Leverkusen to replace the outgoing defender.
Plettenberg posted the update on his X account:
“Understand Liverpool are seriously pursuing Jeremie Frimpong. Advanced talks have already taken place.
“Following detailed analysis and due to his availability, he is currently one of the top options for LFC to potentially replace Trent Alexander-Arnold.
“Frimpong is planning to move this summer. The 24-y/o right wing-back can leave Leverkusen in the summer thanks to a release clause set at around €35–40m.”
The 24-year-old Dutch international has been an impressive performer in the Bundesliga since joining Leverkusen.
He helped Xabi Alonso’s side win the German Bundesliga title last season.
