Barcelona Atletic boss Albert Sanchez speaks out about his future amid sack talk

February 24, 2025

The end is near….

Barcelona Atletic boss Albert Sanchez admits he’s in the dark about his future at the club after overseeing yet another defeat.

His team were beaten 3-2 on Sunday by CD Arenteiro and now sit just one place off the bottom of the table.

There’s already been speculation that Sanchez could be sacked, and he offered an update after the match.

”I am grateful to those who believed in me at the time. The day I have to leave, I will go thanking them, but at the moment we have not entered into any assessment of my future,” he told reporteres.

“I don’t know what will happen in a minute. I can only be grateful to Alexanco, Toni, Bojan and everyone.”

Sanchez also spoke about his team’s problems after yet another disappointing result.

“The problem is general, it is not just mental. Obviously the mental does not help, we are not in this moment of confidence that the one that has to go in is Toni and hits the crossbar,” he added.

“These are moments when in the end the players are people and the states of mind are very important in life and in football, but I think it is a bit of everything. Obviously on a tactical level I am sure I am failing a lot.

“I just told the players, in the end I told them to stay calm, that obviously we have hit rock bottom, but that sometimes you have to do it to stay afloat. You have to be in the shit and together we have to get out of it. We have to keep working and keep insisting. There are 13 games left and we have to go out to win all 13.”

Barcelona Atletic’s next game is against fellow strugglers Gimnastic next weekend.
