Hansi Flick has already sanctioned Barcelona defender Jules Kounde three times

November 16, 2024

Punctuality is important to the German

Hansi Flick has made it crystal clear just how important he believes punctuality is at Barcelona, saying it’s a sign of disrespect if players are late.

Jules Kounde has already found this out to his cost. The defender was late for a team meeting and subsequently dropped against Alaves.

According to Diario AS, the Frenchman has also fallen foul of Flick’s disciplinary rules on another couple of occasions.

During pre-season he was four minutes late and received a very simple message from the boss: “You won’t be in the starting eleven today.”

Kounde was then two minutes late for a meeting ahead of Alaves and was taken out of the team and told “arriving late, even by a minute, is a lack of respect for your teammates.”

But Kounde was then dropped again versus Espanyol. AS claim it wasn’t a case of rotation in that game but because he was one minute late for a meeting. “When I say 13.30 hours, it is neither 13.29 hours nor 13.31 hours,” said Flick.

The German certainly isn’t messing about when it comes to time-keeping. Something Pedri has mentioned recently in an interview when he revealed “if you arrive late you don’t play.”
