Man Utd news: Ruben Amorim issues clear demand amid Ruud van Nistelrooy u-turn
Manchester United are taking a break due to the latest round of international fixtures but all of the attention remains on Ruben Amorim’s first game in charge against Ipswich
The Ruben Amorim era at Manchester United is finally up and running.
The former Sporting Lisbon boss was named as Erik ten Hag’s replacement last month. He has since flown to the UK to meet club officials, while he has also met a few of his stars.
Amorim still has some time to get his ideas across as the build-up to his first game in charge begins. The Red Devils take on newly-promoted Ipswich next weekend.
And given the good work done by interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy, Amorim will be very keen to keep up that momentum. Take a look at all of the latest headlines from Old Trafford:
Ruben Amorim has told his new stars that they “have to have fun” during his spell at Old Trafford. The Portuguese arrived at Carrington earlier this week and met some stars who have stayed behind during the international break.
He greeted Luke Shaw, Mason Mount, Kobbie Mainoo, Lenny Yoro and Toby Collyer, while a host of academy players also got to meet him. And in a short speech to those players, he said “we have to have fun”, while he also noted that he was “thrilled” to have finally arrived.
Despite Amorim already getting his feet under the table, he has been unable to take any training sessions. The Portuguese coach is still awaiting his work permit which will finally allow him to get cracking on reversing the club’s fortunes.
Van Nistelrooy could perform u-turn
Ruud van Nistelrooy could be an option for Burnley as he eyes an instant return to management. The former United striker has left Old Trafford after being told that he would not be part of Amorim’s staff.
Van Nistelrooy only returned in the summer as an assistant to Erik ten Hag. In the process, he turned down a move to Burnley.
The Clarets eventually opted for Scott Parker. But should they choose to make a change, Van Nistelrooy is likely to be at the top of the list and he could this time accept a move to Turf Moor.
Van Nistelrooy oversaw four games in all competitions during his interim spell, winning three – two of which came against Leicester.
