West Ham simply must sack Julen Lopetegui immediately to have any chance of saving their season.

November 11, 2024

Another month brings another international break which is the perfect opportunity to reflect on how a club has got on since the last. Unfortunately for West Ham, the answer is not all that well.

Aside from a shock win against Manchester United, West Ham have not won a game in that period and the performances have been horrific.

Unsurprisingly, pressure is starting to mount on Julen Lopetegui, but it seems like his job may be safe for the time being.

However, Football365 believes that not sacking the Spaniard is a death wish. They claim that it “is remarkably damning for Julen Lopetegui, who does not even have the benefit of a clear idea, principles or philosophy.”

“West Ham are just an expensive mess of random players trying different things with no discernible connection. It is a mystery exactly what they are trying to do. They have no identity. They are a tactical abyss.”

“The decision to part with Moyes was right,” they conceded, “it was time for that marriage of convenience to end and for both parties to go their separate ways towards happier things.”

“Keeping Lopetegui for much longer would feel like doubling-down to turn a lamentable mistake into a critical, season-ruining error.”
