Pierre Kalulu: Why Juventus Made AC Milan Defender A Transfer Target

 Juventus have worked towards bolstering their defence and – after missing out on a number of signings – it seems their current target is the versatile Pierre Kalulu of AC Milan.

The Bianconeri were the main rivals to Arsenal in the race to sign Riccardo Calafiori, but watched on helplessly as the Italy international opted to turn them down to join the Premier League outfit.

They then turned their attention to Nice stopper Jean-Clair Todibo, only for West Ham to step in with an offer – €40 million ($43.99 million) plus 20% of any future transfer – that Juve were unwilling to match.

Shortly after that move collapsed, transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio reported that the Turin giants had surprisingly made a bid for Kalulu, who found himself surplus to requirements after Milan brought in Strahinja Pavlović from RB Salzburg and Tottenham’s Emerson Royal.

Initial reports suggest that Juve will pay €3.5 million ($3.85 million) for a 12 month loan, with an option to sign Kalulu outright next summer for a further €14 million ($15.4 million) plus bonuses.
