Fonseca promises a Milan ‘that dominates’ and says Pulisic ‘can play as a No.10’

July 27, 2024

Ahead of the game between AC Milan and Manchester City, which is scheduled for 00:00 CEST, Paulo Fonseca spoke to the media about various topics. He promised change from the previous management and also touched on Christian Pulisic’s role.

The game against Man City will be Fonseca’s second in charge of the team. The first ended in a 1-1 draw against Rapid Wien and he will be hoping for a win tonight. Christian Pulisic, who spoke to CBS Mornings yesterday, has joined the group in training and will be available.

Fonseca discussed the style of play he wants for Milan. He also confirmed that Pulisic could play as a No.10 in his system.

On the style of play…

“I can guarantee you 100% that you will see an attacking Milan, which dominates the matches, recovers the ball quickly and makes the fans proud. We will defend differently from last season, I don’t want to make comparisons but it will be different, we have to improve if we want to win

On talents…

“For me, players have no age: if they have quality and courage, they play.”

On the difference between Serie A and Ligue 1…

“The games have changed a lot in the last seasons. In Italy, not different, I was in France for two years, and I didn’t see all the games in Italy but I see some differences. The other day, I saw Como, who were promoted to Serie A, and offensively, they are very very strong…”

On Pulisic’s position…

“I think Christian can play as a No.10. RLC also can play in that position.”

It remains to be seen what the starting XI will look like for the game, but Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Fikayo Tomori are certain to start. Having just joined the team, Pulisic will likely be on the bench.
