Premier League star sent off for throwing punches as team-mate ‘racially abused’ in match
Wolves’ Portuguese winger Daniel Podence was sent off after punching an opponent following accusations of racism from his team-mate Hwang Hee-chan in a pre-season friendly with Como 1907
Wolves’ Daniel Podence was sent off for throwing punches after his team-mate was allegedly racially abused.
Podence, 27, was part of the Wolves squad that clashed with new-Serie A side Como 1907 on Monday (July 16). However tempers flared in the 68th minute when Hwang Hee-chan was alleged racially abused by one Como player.
The Portuguese winger swung at a defender, and he was sent off by the referee. There were doubts the game would continue with coaches, Hwang, and the referee locked in discussions for several minutes – but the South Korean striker made the call for the game to continue.
