Real Madrid waiting for Nacho’s decision to start negotiating for Yoro

June 20, 2024

Real Madrid has set its sights on Lille’s young center-back Leny Yoro, but their pursuit hinges on the future of veteran defender Nacho Fernandez, according to a report from Spanish outlet Marca.

Yoro, a highly-rated talent, is eager to join the prestigious club. However, Madrid is reportedly waiting on Nacho’s decision regarding a contract extension before initiating negotiations with Lille.

If Nacho departs, as expected, Madrid would then push to sign Yoro this summer. While Lille seeks a fee of €50 million for the young defender, Marca suggests a deal could be struck closer to €40 million.

However, should Nacho remain, Madrid is willing to wait an additional year, hoping Yoro’s desire to play for them outweighs his immediate playing time elsewhere. This strategy comes with some risk, as Manchester United and Liverpool have reportedly shown interest in Yoro.

The upcoming weeks will be crucial for both Real Madrid and Yoro. The Spanish giants must weigh their options at center-back, while the young defender ponders his future and ambition for playing time.
