PSG Chief’s Shrewd Move to Outpace Liverpool, Real Madrid in Pursuit of French Wonderkid

June 4, 2024

LOSC Lille defender Leny Yoro appears set for a move this summer, given that his contract expires in 2025. Consequently, if he opts not to extend his deal, the French club must sell him to ensure they receive a fee.

Yoro is linked to three clubs: Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid. At 18, he’s a highly sought-after talent, and he’ll have to choose his future if all three clubs can meet Lille’s fee demand.

The Parisians want to secure the player as quickly as possible to avoid dragging out the transfer saga. According to L’Équipe (h/t Diario AS), Nasser Al Khelaïfi, on Saturday, in the run-up to the UEFA Champions League final in London, met with Maarten Petermann, co-owner of Lille, to discuss his possible incorporation.

Despite being young, Yoro played in 44 matches for Les Dogues in the 2023-24 season, proving he’s ready to take on the starting center-back role. It will be interesting to see if the Ligue 1 champions can secure the defender or if they might have to move to Plan B.
