PSG accelerate efforts to sign €60 million Barcelona winger target
Paris Saint-Germain are speeding up their efforts to sign Napoli’s star player Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who also happened to have generated interest within FC Barcelona.
It is to be noted that Barcelona had shown significant interest in Kvaratskhelia in the past, but it now appears that the player might be slipping out of their reach.
PSG’s sporting director, Luis Campos, along with coach Luis Enrique and club president Nasser al-Khelaifi, are reportedly determined to strengthen their forward line following the departure of Kylian Mbappe.
They recognize that replacing Mbappe will require more than just one player, so they are looking to add several new talents to their squad. In a recent transfer planning meeting, they have decided that signing Kvaratskhelia should be a top priority.
Kvaratskhelia to PSG is now a real possibility
In the past few days, there have been notable advancements in the negotiations between PSG and Kvaratskhelia.
Although a preliminary agreement has been reached with the player, the financial details of the deal have not been disclosed and despite the progress, finalizing the transfer still involves several challenges.
Reports surfaced in the Italian media about a supposed €100 million offer from PSG for the player, but the Parisian club has denied these claims, stating that they value the winger at closer to €60 million.
Negotiations are ongoing, with both sides trying to reach a fair agreement. There is also the possibility that the deal might include other players as part of the exchange.
What about Barcelona?
In Italy, there had been speculation that Kvaratskhelia was one of Barcelona’s targets for the upcoming season, especially after Xavi was confirmed as the team’s coach.
The Georgian player was seen as a perfect fit for Xavi’s plan to bolster the left wing in attack and during the round of 16 tie against Napoli, Xavi was reportedly impressed with Kvaratskhelia’s performance, even though Barcelona had the upper hand in that match.
However, with Hansi Flick now at the helm, the club’s transfer priorities seem to have shifted. Despite this, Barcelona are missing out on a valuable opportunity as PSG move closer to securing Kvaratskhelia.
