Borussia Dortmund midfielder warns Real Madrid ahead of UCL final – ‘We are ready’
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Brandt shared his thoughts on Real Madrid and the upcoming UEFA Champions League final in London.
He expressed great respect for the record European champions, stating that there is no greater team in the Champions League than Real Madrid.
However, he also made it clear that Dortmund are not travelling to London for a vacation; they are there to compete and win.
“This is the Champions League. We have shown what we are against many teams and this is the ultimate opponent. There is nothing bigger in the Champions League,” said Brandt as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
“We and the rest of our teammates, if we didn’t believe we would have stayed in Dortmund. Of course, we believe in our chances and we will prove it tomorrow,” he added.
Dortmund are ready for Real Madrid
It is to be noted that Dortmund’s last game was two weeks ago, leading some to worry that the break might affect their performance. Brandt, however, is confident that this period of inactivity will not negatively impact his team.
He believes they have used the time wisely to prepare and stay sharp for this important match.
“The last game was two weeks ago, but I wouldn’t say it’s a serious problem.
“We always talk about pace, whether it’s better or not, in this chaos it could be even worse.
“For me, it makes no difference. We have trained well and had some rest. We are ready,” he said.
Brandt’s words on Kroos and Bellingham
Brandt took a moment to commend Toni Kroos, who is set to play his final game for Real Madrid before retiring.
He spoke highly of Kroos, emphasizing the impressive legacy he leaves behind as a German player.
Kroos has achieved significant success in Spain, winning numerous titles with Real Madrid and Brandt described him as an idol in the world of football and praised him not just for his skills on the field but also for being a remarkable person.
“He [Kroos] has left an incredible legacy as a German player, he has won many titles in Spain. He’s an idol of this sport and he’s also a sensational guy,” commented the midfielder.
Lastly, when asked about Jude Bellingham, a young star formerly with Dortmund and now with Real Madrid, Brandt mentioned that he does not believe any of his current teammates are in contact with Bellingham.
