Leon Goretzka not thinking about exit from Bayern Munich
The midfielder’s future could be in the hands of the next coach, though.
Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka has had talks with the club and executive Max Eberl about his future, but does not appear to be any closer to reach an agreement on a new deal with the club just yet.
“Of course. But it wasn’t mainly about my future. He just wanted to get informed and asked about my opinion on certain topics. It’s no secret that I’m under contract until 2026 and that I feel comfortable at FC Bayern,” Goretzka told kicker’s George Holzner and Mario Krischel (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “I’m an open-minded person, but the question (of leaving the club) doesn’t arise for me at the moment. What appeals to me now is to tackle the issues we have here at FC Bayern and get the ship back on track in the domestic competitions. That we at FC Bayern live the ‘Mia san mia’ more strongly again. I can very well imagine that in two or three years we will look back at this season and say that it was still important because the right lessons were learned from it.”
A new coach will likely determine the direction of the team — and for Goretzka. The midfielder understands that whoever the new hire is will play a role in his future planning.
“Of course the coach has a say. It’s legitimate to question players or to consider what you want to do. That’s natural,” said Goretzka.
