“Unbelievable, unbelievable”: Harry Kane ecstatic to reach first UEFA Champions League semifinal with Bayern Munich

April 18, 2024

The Kane curse comes one step closer to being lifted.

One of the prime reasons Harry Kane joined Bayern Munich was to win titles. A DFB-Pokal blunder and Bayer Leverkusen masterclass later, the Englishman’s chances were looking grim. However, following Bayern Munich’s 3-2 aggregate victory over Arsenal, Kane’s dream of bagging his first silverware remains alive.

An Allianz Arena filled to the brim with relieved fans could not quite compare to the smile on Kane’s face when he was asked to comment on the momentous victory.

“Unbelievable, unbelievable win,” he remarked as he touched on the fans’ importance in the victory (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “It’s been a tough season for us, we’ve had to fight and really grind at times, and today was that. We knew at home we could make the difference with our fans there.”

The 30-year-old striker went on to praise Joshua Kimmich’s “great” goal, which would ultimately seal the victory for Bayern and seal a ticket to their first Champions League semifinal since the treble winning season in 2020.

“To reach the semifinal is a great achievement for us, so we can enjoy this one,” said Kane. In a game where the vast majority labelled Bayern the underdogs, a great achievement indeed.

Harry Kane and Bayern Munich now have the opportunity to battle Real Madrid for a spot in the Champions League Final at Wembley in June, where the England captain will be pulling out all the stops to win his first trophy.
