Harry Kane injury update for Bayern Munich as Arsenal watch on ahead of Champions League clash
Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Harry Kane has recovered from injury ahead of the Champions League clash with Arsenal.
The Gunners will face the Bundesliga giants in the Champions League quarter-final next month. Arsenal beat Porto in their last-16 tie to reach the last-eight, while Bayern overcame a 1-0 first-leg deficit to beat Lazio in the previous round.
Kane had suffered an ankle injury during Bayern’s victory over Darmstadt earlier this month in the Bundesliga. Despite this, he was named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad during the recent international break.
The England captain missed the Three Lions’ defeat to Brazil at Wembley Stadium last week and returned early from international duty to travel back to Germany. Tuchel has confirmed that Kane has now returned to full training and is in contention to feature in the Bundesliga clash against Borussia Dortmund this weekend.
“Harry trained fully with the team yesterday, has stepped things up each day. It’s all fine, he’ll play,” Tuchel told reporters on Friday.
However, Tuchel also confirmed that Manuel Neuer remains unavailable with a muscle injury. The Bayern boss went on to go through the other injuries in the squad, with the clash against Arsenal looming.
“Manuel Neuer is out,” said Tuchel. “It’s nothing to do with risk. The pain is simply too great. We hope a week is enough and he’ll be in goal against Heidenheim.”
“Aleks Pavlovic is unfortunately not available. Raphael Guerreiro also isn’t back yet, and Sacha Boey got injured during the week.”
Arsenal do not play Bayern until the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on April 9. Between now and then the Gunners have three Premier League fixtures, while Bayern only have two Bundesliga matches on their calendar before the clash at the Emirates Stadium.
