Chelsea’s €15m Brazilian leads Europe in most important creative stat
Angelo Gabriel’s loan to Strasbourg has been a slow burner, but it’s turning into one of the more successful moves in terms of outgoings that was made last summer.
The stats show he’s got 1.25 key passes 90 minutes. That’s the most of any under 21 player in Europe.
It’s only one stat, but an important one. The names around him are the top young players in attacking positions in Europe, from Florian Witz to Lamine Yamal and Jamal Musiala. But Angleo is top of the pile, incredibly.
Strasbourg are a mid table club, so he’s not lighting up our timelines with goals and highlights every week, but this shows what a consistent attacking danger he’s been for the Alsatians.
The policy of signing so many youngsters, especially South Americans, has been criticised, but Angelo looks like he might actually be worth the €15m we paid for him.
There’s plenty more to develop in his game, but he’s ahead of the curve so far.
