Fiorentina Captain To Miss Serie A Clash Vs Inter Milan Through Suspension After Booking Vs Napoli
Cristiano Biraghi will miss the upcoming Serie A match against Inter Milan through suspension after being booked against Napoli.
The 31-year-old picked up the yellow card early in the second half of this evening’s Supercoppa Italiana loss to the Partenopei.
Fiorentina did not have a very enjoyable evening in Riyadh.
La Viola crashed out of the Supercoppa Italiana. And they did so by an emphatic scoreline of 3-0.
It was reining Serie A champions Napoli who dumped the Tuscans out of the competition. Fiorentina had qualified as last season’s Coppa Italia runners-up.
Meanwhile, Inter – winners of last season’s Coppa – face Lazio – Serie A runners-up from last campaign, in the second semifinal for a chance to face Napoli in the final.
And it wasn’t just the loss to the Partenopei for Fiorentina, either.
La Viola will also miss a key player for their next league match at home to Inter.
Cristiano Biraghi To Miss Fiorentina Vs Inter Clash
Viola captain Biraghi went into the book in the 51st minute of the match against Napoli.
Because bookings in the Supercoppa count towards Serie A, and this was the fifth booking that the Italian international has picked up this season, he will miss the next league match.
That comes at the Stadio Artemio Franchi against Serie A league leaders Inter.
The Nerazzurri thrashed La Viola by a 4-0 scoreline in the reverse fixture.
Biraghi has also played for Inter. He was a graduate of the Nerazzurri’s youth academy, although never initially broke into the first team.
But Biraghi did spend the 2019-20 season on loan at Inter from Fiorentina.
That season saw the Italian make 26 appearances for the Nerazzurri in Serie A, and 37 across all competitions. He scored three goals for the club.
Meanwhile, three other Fiorentina will miss the match against Inter through suspension.
