West Ham must pay £13m clause for the man Tim Steidten allegedly wants to replace David Moyes but reports makes Xabi Alonso future clear.

Speculation continues to swirl over the future of David Moyes at West Ham beyond this season.

Last week we spoke to the top source inside West Ham about Moyes’ situation.

And the contact emphatically denied Moyes will be sacked labelling such talk ‘rubbish’.

But that does not change the fact the Scot is in the last year of his Hammers contract.

In the main, West Ham do not tend to discuss manager contracts until the new year.

Reports, though, have claimed Moyes is unlikely to see his contract extended with technical director Tim Steidten already assessing replacements.

£13m clause for man Steidten allegedly wants
The east Londoners have been linked with a host of managers.

And West Ham must pay £13m clause for the man Steidten allegedly wants to replace Moyes but reports made the future of Xabi Alonso clear.

It was claimed by a source inside West Ham last month that Steidten’s appointment could see the German help West Ham replace Moyes with Bayer Leverkusen boss Alonso next summer.

West Ham have been heavily linked with Alonso since the German’s arrival at West Ham – as reported here on Hammers News.

Alonso’s contract was up next summer – when Moyes’ West Ham deal also expires. But he signed a two-year extension back in August.

Steidten appointed Alonso but Hammers reunion highly unlikely
Now it has been revealed that the release clause in that contract is £13m.

The man Steidten appointed at ex club Leverkusen showed West Ham what might be if the Moyes succession plan for Alonso is true.

His side played the Hammers off the park in a thumping pre-season win.

But it seems Alonso’s buy out clause is specifically designed for one of his three former clubs – Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or Liverpool.

Football Transfers has hinted that Alonso’s rumoured next destination will be Real to replace Carlo Ancelotti in the summer.

The most optimistic of West Ham fans know it is highly unlikely the club would pay that kind of money to sign a manager.

Even though it is small fry when compared to most player transfers.

So it seems any hopes of landing Alonso as Moyes’ successor look like a non-starter.
