Sheffield United player picks out difference maker Manchester United ace for praise after 2-1 win
Manchester United had to work hard to beat a winless Sheffield United team at Bramall Lane.
Sheffield United’s last home match was a 8-0 defeat to Newcastle, which had raised hopes Manchester United might win easily.
The trouble is for Erik ten Hag’s side, is that there probably isn’t a team out there anywhere you would back us to comfortably beat.
With Sheffield United keen to show a reaction, it was a narrow 2-1 win for Manchester United in the end.
Diogo Dalot praised
Former Manchester United academy graduate Oliver Norwood was on the losing team for the Blades and he bemoaned his side’s hard luck.
Norwood praised Diogo Dalot‘s moment of magic which saw him curl a shot into the back of the net to win the game for Manchester United.
Dalot told BBC Blades Heaven: “Sometimes players from Manchester United can do things like that, stick it the corner from 25 yards out. It took one like that to beat us.
“That was the difference in the game, I thought we stuck to the gameplan really well. We played forward, played with intensity. That was a proper performance, we can take heart from it.
“Not much we can do when the right-back smashes one in the corner from 25 yards.”
Rare Diogo Dalot goal
Diogo Dalot does not score many goals. This was his fourth goal in 118 competitive appearances for Manchester United, and his first of the season.
He did hint at this kind of long range shooting ability with a strike in pre-season against Borussia Dortmund.
It seemed a shame then that his special strike came in a friendly match. This time, it mattered, and perhaps that pre-season strike gave him the confidence to try and execute this one so well.
Dalot paid tribute to Sir Bobby Charlton after the win, and his goal was one the great man would have enjoyed.
