TEN SERIE A PLAYERS COULD BE INVOLVED IN ILLEGAL BETTING CASE
Nicolo Zaniolo, Sandro Tonali and Nicolo Fagioli are being investigated as part of the illegal betting case around Serie A and a total of ten players could be potentially involved in it.
La Repubblica (via TMW) state that any implications in the case should not have criminal proceedings since it doesn’t involve match fixing at all. The theme is broad and isn’t related to only the three players and it is likely to involve about seven more Serie A players and it could involve another Juventus player, apart from Fagioli.
The investigations have been going on from the police’s end for the last few weeks and they took place rather internally. It began after the police began tracking a criminal group that was involved in illegal betting and from there, the authorities discovered links to Fagioli and the Italian is likely to have bet over hundreds of euros over the last 18 months.
Fagioli has admitted some involvement and that has opened up a Pandora’s box. The midfielder handed over his phone to the police and this led to other players being tracked, leading to investigations around Tonali and Zaniolo. The situation is now likely to develop further.
