Barcelona not considering offering a new contract to 31-year-old veteran

October 13, 2023

Sergi Roberto was Barcelona’s hero in their last La Liga game against Granada before the international break, as he scored a second-half goal to help the team salvage a 2-2 draw at Los Carmenes.

Having not had a single minute of football in the four games preceding that, the club captain made the most of his opportunity last weekend and helped ensure that the team maintained its unbeaten start to the season.

No new contract for Sergi Roberto
Despite his limited role in the team, Sergi Roberto is a player that everyone at Barcelona value because of what he brings to the table.

However, as things stand, the La Liga champions are not considering offering him a new contract, with his current one expiring at the end of the season, reports Mundo Deportivo.

Roberto is held in very high regard at Barça because of what he represents for the squad, for the coaches, and his dedication and commitment to the club.

The player understands his role and has been impressing Xavi with his dedication in training and his captaincy responsibilities despite playing very rarely.

At the same time, though, the 31-year-old is coming to terms with the fact that this could be his last season at the club and that his future is a long way from playing at the new Camp Nou.
