€100 million-rated Barcelona star hoping to be fully fit for El Clasico

October 7, 2023

FC Barcelona have missed several of their players because of injuries since the start of this season. The Catalans are still without some of their key players, as Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Raphinha, and now even Robert Lewandowski are unavailable due to physical issues.

One player whom Barcelona would have missed much more in previous seasons but whose absence is not being felt as much this season because of Ilkay Gundogan’s arrival is the 20-year-old Canary Islander Pedri.

The former Las Palmas midfielder suffered an injury on August 24th and is still working to recover and get back in action for La Blaugrana.

As SPORT has highlighted, Pedri responded to a few questions on “The Residency” app about his recovery from injury and other aspects of his life in Barcelona and in general. Some of the questions the midfielder was asked and his responses are reproduced below:

You’ve been injured for a long time. Are you looking forward to coming back?

“Yes, I’m really looking forward to it. Fortunately, everything has gone very well, and I’m almost there.”

Will you be watching the Spain matches, the one on Thursday, October 12 against Scotland, and the one on Sunday, October 15 against Norway?

“Yes, of course. And I wish I could be playing in them.”

When do you plan to return to the field?

“Very soon, after the break, I hope to be ready.”

Will you be in the Clásico on October 28 at Montjuïc?

“If everything goes well, I’ll be at my best.”

Who is the best-dressed player at FC Barcelona?

“Jules Koundé.”

What have you been doing all this time when you couldn’t play?

“Taking care of myself and training.”

It’s been tough for Barça… Without Pedri and now without De Jong.

“Barça has a great squad, and no matter who plays, they always perform well.”

How do you stay positive?

“Well, there’s no other choice… You have to pick yourself up. Injuries are part of our job, and we have to work hard to come back stronger.”

What did you think of Ferran’s goal against Porto?

“Ferran is on fire (and he inserted three shark emoticons).”

Formula 1 or NBA?

“NBA.”

Why do you laugh so much?

“Because I’m happy.”

When was the last time you ate a banana?”

“Well, it was two hours ago, during the snack.”

Pedri opened up in this chitchat by sharing his personal views on several questions, but the most important aspect of this interview remains his confession that he can be 100% by the time Barcelona face Real Madrid on 28th October.

Hopefully, he can return before this match and get back into full rhythm in El Clasico to help Barcelona get all three crucial points against their traditional rivals.
