Newcastle United ‘immediately target’ Victor Osimhen in strange swap deal

Reports in Italy claim Newcastle United will try to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in January but allow Alexander Isak to go the opposite way. Sport Italia claim Newcastle will offer £65million for the Nigerian striker and allow Isak to join the Serie A outfit.

It’s a strange claim given Isak has become Eddie Howe’s first choice striker, with Callum Wilson dropping to the bench. Newcastle’s interest in Osimhen isn’t new having kept an eye on the striker during his time at Lille.

The report claims the swap deal for Isak would see Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis ‘waver’ given he’d have his immediate replacement. It seems unlikely the Toon would part ways with Isak just 18 months after signing the Swedish international and his importance to the side.
