Barcelona midfielder shares what he has learned from Xavi and Enrique

Barcelona have had the pleasure of possessing some of the greatest names in football history and achieving many great things with them. Among the newest crop of talents, there are several who have the potential to become legends of the club themselves.

From the likes of Gavi, Balde, and Pedri, many of these young stars possess great talents and aspirations for the future. However, it is also key for these individuals to take their health seriously and also to continue growing as players within FC Barcelona.

As such, reported by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Pedri talked about several important topics as he featured on the cover of Men’s Health Spain and discussed the different aspects of his game that he has evolved courtesy of his different mentors.

Talking about his current head coach at Barcelona, Xavi Hernandez, the 20-year-old star highlighted how his coach’s words have helped him develop his awareness during the game and enabled him to nurture a key instinct of his during games:

“From Xavi Hernandez, I’ve learned something that I didn’t do as much before but now I do a lot: Look before receiving…”

Another key figure he mentioned by name was his former Spanish National team mentor and also a former Barcelona player and manager, Luis Enrique. In terms of his impact on Pedri, the Golden Boy winner stated it was a mental boost in his particular case:

“…And from Luis Enrique, above all, how to compete and how to convey what you want.”

The Kopa Trophy winner also talked about how he felt being compared to Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta. Despite it being an obvious confidence booster, the youngster wants to pave his own way forward:

“It’s an honor to be compared to Andrés Iniesta, but I have to make my own career. I have to be Pedri.”

For now, Pedri continues his recovery and the image for Men’s Health Spain also showcases the impressive physique developed by the youngster during his time out from injury. Moving forward, both Barcelona and the player are planning to exhibit patience in order to ensure no relapses or further injuries occur.
