Mauricio Pochettino next three priorities after Chelsea double deal agreement reached

September 10, 2023

Chelsea news: Mauricio Pochettino still has a number of issues in west London he needs to solve after the Blues struck a crucial agreement this past week

Mauricio Pochettino will have one less thing to worry about in the coming weeks after Chelsea finally secured an important sponsorship agreement. The Blues have taken to the pitch without a main shirt sponsor, but that finally looks set to change with Infinite Athlete expected to fill the void.

The company was only recently formed when Tempus Ex Machina acquired Biocore, however Infinite do not look set for a long-term front-of-shirt sponsorship agreement. While they will be placed on the front of Chelsea’s shirts for the rest of the season, their branding will be moved to a sleeve sponsor next season, leaving space for a long-term main partnership still.

In replace of Infinite, it is expected that Riyadh Air, the official state airline of Saudi Arabia, will takeover from 2024/25. With that issue now appearing resolved, focus can be shifted onto solving other matters with tactical decisions, contract extensions and transfers likely at the forefront of Pochettino’s mind.

With that said, football.london has taken a look at three jobs Pochettino and Todd Boehly will likely want to prioritise in the coming weeks.

Ian Maatsen looked set to seal an exit from Chelsea on deadline day with Burnley agreeing a deal to bring the Netherlands international back to Turf Moor. However, Maatsen chose to remain at Stamford Bridge.

Despite nearly leaving his boyhood club, Chelsea are set to proceed with talks over a new contract for Maatsen, football.london understands, with his current deal due to expire at the end of the season. Given what happened with Mason Mount, the Blues will want a clear answer soon and thus his long-term future resolved.
