Aston Villa absence explained as transfer plans to be decided ‘in next 48 hours’

August 21, 2023

Aston Villa are in transfer talks with Hull City about a possible £5m signing for the Championship club.

Aston Villa’s Jaden Philogene-Bidace is understood to be in talks over a move to Hull City, according to reports.

Philogene was not in the Villa squad to face Everton yesterday, and now it has emerged that the Villains are in talks with the Championship about a possible move to the Tigers. Hull Live report that Hull are’hopeful of landing the in-demand winger’ and a deal could be concluded this week.

A report from The Athletic on Monday claims that Hull are trying to sign the winger for ‘around £5m’, after a knock had ruled him out of Sunday’s match. The 21-year-old came off the bench against Newcastle United last week in the 5-1 defeat, and so his absence at Villa Park on Sunday, would have raised a few eyebrows given how the depth of the squad has been stretched following a spate of injuries.

Furthering on from The Athletic’s report, it is claimed the player ‘wants more minutes’ and that they are open to letting him leave on a permanent deal for the right fee, though there will also be a buy-back option. He is not being considered for another loan move and now a decision is expected to be made in the next ‘48 hours’.
